BUDGET FRIENDLY BATHROOM REFRESH

Our 600 sqft rental is anything but beautiful. I’m passionate about home design but hesitant to invest in improvements because we don’t own this home. We would just be putting money into someone else’s investment. So here’s a quick bathroom refresh that works on a small budget.

We have actually had these shelves put up for years now. I wanted something above the toilet that would act as extra storage but still be pretty, and you guessed it, inexpensive. My husband used to do gas pipe work for homes under construction so he knew what to get at the hardware store. These are just some gas pipe fittings and a 2×6 cut down to size.

I decorated with weck jars filled with your usual toiletry finds and a $10 mountable first aid kit from Amazon. A basket from target made a convenient spot to put some toilet paper rolls. We also hide baby wipes and air freshener in there. The basket was under $20 from Target.

The biggest change was the vanity paint. I used Behr Premium Plus Paint with Eggshell finish in the shade Shadow Mountain from Home Depot. I painted mostly with a roller. The hardware was spray painted with Rustoleum Universal Metallic paint in Pure Gold. An ivory shower curtain concealed our shower doors and I used some hook to tie together the gold accents. Both the curtain and hooks were from Amazon.

The black shower mat is so much more my style than the teal one. They are both from Target. The grey fringe rug is from the Hearth and Hand collection at Target and I found on sale for only $16. It was a bit too big for the room so I folded it in half.

I had some scrap wood lying around so I made use of it and built a super simple shelf. I decided to add some towel hooks, found on Amazon, and made our bathroom towels a piece of decor. The LED candles are from a pack of 5 from Costco.

This wall has always been a pain because the thermostat is right in the middle. The best option I could come up with to conceal it was to make it a statement wall. I applied peel and stick wallpaper I found on Amazon and painted the cabinet with the same paint from the vanity.

I’ve had this Ikea Raskog cart for years. I actually have 2 of them. The color was fun at first, but it grew old. I spray painted it with some basic glossy black paint from Rustoleum. I decided to keep using it as towel storage but added a couple new accessories.
