Easy As Pie

Once Halloween is over I am READY for Christmas decor! But here we are faced with the middle holiday-Thanksgiving. What’s not to love about Thanksgiving? Family, food, comfy clothes. So why do we often skip right over it? Maybe for us decorator enthusiasts, it’s kinda blah going from pumpkins and various shades of orange to skeletons and black hats, back to pumpkins. We’re all just ready for a red and green punch to the face! This year, I’m going to give Thanksgiving the attention it deserves! So come along and make a garland of pie (inedible) with me!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Various shades of felt – (tan, light + dark brown, white, red, orange, purple) $.33 per sheet at Hobby Lobby

Hot glue gun

Scissors

Twine

Hot cocoa with Bailey’s – very necessary for winter crafting! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • How๏ฟผ to make it:
  1. Cut out as many pie shaped triangles as you will need. I cut one of the tan sheets of felt into thirds crosswise, then into 6 triangles.
  2. For the pumpkin, cherry, berry, and chocolate pies, cut out additional triangles slightly smaller than your first pieces from the appropriate colors of felt and hot glue them to the tops of your tan pieces.
  3. To make whipped cream, cut out a circle approximately 2 inches wide, add a large amount of hot glue to the center, and fold upward. Then cut the tip of the fold off and glue to the top of the pumpkin and chocolate pies.
  4. Cut out thin strips of tan felt. Layer them like a lattice crust over the cherry pie and glue.
  5. For the berry pie, cut out another tan triangle. Cut 3 holes into the center and then glue onto the top.
  6. I cut thin strips from the 2 dark brown colors and glued them as I rolled them into pecan shapes. Glue each one onto the final pie triangle.
  7. Use varying styles for your crust. I overlapped some, cut out round and oblong shapes, or made an accordion fold. For the pecan pie, I folded the edge of the remaining tan felt upward and glued to the pecans.
  8. Then all you have to do is glue it to some twine or clip it with clothespins and find somewhere to hang it!
